Planetarian.
And why on Earth would a product like Planetarian intrigue me?
"Gee, I don't know, the girl on the cover is cute?"
Oh yes! The first reaction I had when I saw the cover was,
"MOE OVERWHELMING!"
Planetarian is what is called a "Kinetic Novel." It is a visual novel in which you can't make any choices at all. In a sense, it's not a game, but a true novel. The novel itself isn't very long; it will take you about 4 hours to complete. I don't wanna go into the detail of what the novel is about, but I'll say it's kind of like the Fallout series, but without the 1950s references. There's only two characters, "The Junker" and Hoshino Yumemi.
OH NO! NOT HOSHINO!
Yes, she's the cutie on the cover. As far as robot girls go, she's definitely one of the cutest, certainly a lot more cute than Chii. This novel was developed by Key Visual Arts, which frankly doesn't surprise me.
I can't call this a classic, since there's no interactivity, and parts of the story are predictable, and the ending is a little too drawn out. However, the writing is very good, the music is good, and Hoshino is utterly adorable.
However, this entry is just a footnote; playing this has sparked my interest in all things Key-related. Hit the next post page to see more.
