Touhouwned

Okay, I think the initial excitement for the new Touhou games has died down. Time to interject my thoughts!

I was able to download the soundtrack of TH 12. It's good, but not great. I've also seen the portraits of the four new characters. I am . . . somewhat unimpressed. but the stage 4 boss is kind of cute. I now await fanart of the new characters. CLEAN artwork, thank-you-very-much.

My source doesn't have the music of the newest Touhou fighter catalogued yet, but they did have the actual game, and as such . . . I acquired a copy for free. Then again, knowing me, once I get TH 12.3's soundtrack, I'll erase the game in good taste. (We at xm0123's Domain believe in pirating music and ROMs of old console games, not PC games. Yes, we are filthy, filthy hypocrites. And yes, that turns us on. No, I don't know why I'm talking like Jon Stewart right now.)

TH 12.3 . . . is obviously not as fun as Guilty Gear. However, it makes up for it by being apologetically adorable. Cirno is playable in a fighter now . . . only I suck as her. Hong Meiling makes a re-appearance; she's better now than in TH 7.5, although most of her ranged attacks still suck. She's very much a melee fighter. Sanae is . . . well, to be honest, she's like a crappy version of Reimu. My favorite playable characters in this game are the returning characters, oddly enough.

TH 12.3 contains what is probably the best mix of the main Touhou theme I've ever heard. And it also has the best version of Sanae's theme I've ever heard. It sounds like rock! (how astonishingly appropriate.) But overall, It's hard to play a Touhou fighter now that I've familiarized myself with GG.

Oh, but the community is very much ablaze right now. Lots and lots of new fanart is pouring out of everywhere, and everyone is commenting on the new games. People's opinions are divided, but I don't mind. Most debating I've seen is healthy, so far.

And for my next post, I'll finally comment on my own Touhou fanfiction! Probably because I'm not finished with my own Touhouverse yet . . .
