What was I doing August of last year?
"Playing Half-Life games."
And what am I doing right now, in the month of August?
" . . . Playing Half-Life games?"
Exactly!
Something about this month has compelled me to play Half-Life games for two years straight now. I now declare that August is Half-Life History Month.
(If I could, I would insert a doctored screenshot reading, "Half-Life History Month" here, but for now, you'll have to use your imagination.)
Why am I playing Half-Life games again? It might be because I bought The Orange Box for my Xbox 360. Sure, I already own the PC version of Half-Life 2, but I've never played the retail versions of HL 2 Episode One, HL 2 Episode Two, and Portal until now. And, technically, I own Team Fortress 2 now, except as you know, I don't play online-only games.
So for the rest of the month, except for when I do reviews of other stuff, (I already promised to do a further review of the manga version of Cardcaptor Sakura, for example,) I'm gonna spend this entire month talking about the Half-Life franchise. So if you hate Half-Life for whatever reason, stay away from the more recent entries.
"Sorry, Mister Freeman, but you know I can't let you through without your groove on."
Sorry. It's an old joke from Planet Half-Life.
