I recently watched two movies on DVD. Two big-budget movies I missed out on in theaters. Let me tell you about them.
I recently saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. My review: Naysayers be damned! Spielberg and Lucas are still at the top of their game! And Harrison Ford is still the one and only Indy in my book! In my opinion,Indy 4 is almost as good as Raiders of the Lost Ark, and almost as good as The Last Crusade. My only complaint, my only complaint, is that there aren't as many memorable moments in Indy 4. There are some, but not like in Indy 1 and 3. That's the only flaw I can find. Otherwise, Indy 4 is a return to form, with John Williams' score to boot! Forget what the haters are saying and watch it already if you haven't!
The other movie I saw was Iron Man. Not quite as good as Indy 4, but still enjoyable. The acting was top-notch, and Robert Downey Jr. has proven himself very capable as a lead actor. Seeing Tony Stark going from a hedonistic playboy to, well, a superhero, is very interesting to watch. Can't wait for the follow-up. And I'm not even an Iron Man fan. I only know about Iron Man from all those fighting game crossovers Marvel and Capcom did back in the day. Yeah, never read the comics, never saw the animated series, but this movie is pretty good. Not one of the best movies I've seen adapted from a comic series, but good nonetheless.
So yeah, I guess the summer hosted a lot of good movies, apparently. I don't know, I haven't watched a movie in theaters in nearly two years, so forgive me. (I prefer home viewing anyways. I can pause when I want.)
LATE EDIT: I still stand by this! I liked Indy 4 slightly more than the first Iron Man movie! And so do my mom and dad!
But Iron Man's still good though; just not as godlike as nerd culture makes it out to be.
