Okay peoples, going off of my essay which was based on Usuallydead's playthrough of Perfect Cherry Blossom, it would seem that I am either a very unique person, or I am extremely eccentric. One need not look further than by list of anime girls I think are cute or not so cute. (I really need to update that.)
Let's look up "cute", shall we? My Wordperfect program defines cute as an adjective to describe something that is, "Endearingly pretty." It also lists cute as an informal noun meaning sexually attractive. It also lists another informal noun meaning clever and shrewd.
I've always believed cute was that first definition, "endearingly pretty." Okay, so I wouldn't describe guys like Kirby, Yoshi, and Kero-chan as "pretty", but they are definitely endearing nonetheless. And what does endearing mean? "Inspiring love and affection."
Okay, that's a better definition: someone who is cute is someone who inspires love and/or affection.
So then, let's change subjects. You know that I own the video game version of Kung Fu Panda right? I've beaten that. I've (now) also seen the movie. It was pretty good. Now is where my frustration sets in, not about the movie itself, but something else.
Before I had seen the movie, or even played the game, one of my mom's cousins briefly mentioned Kung Fu Panda in conversation, saying it was, "The cutest movie." A few months later, in one of my classes last semester, some people were talking about the movie, and this girl said "It was so cute!" (You could tell it was females who said this, for guys would never admit to anything being cute.) You know what my reaction is?
Oh yes, because a movie where the villain is a scary dude that beats the crap out of rhinos and wants to kill his master and obtain an all-powerful scroll is always the first thing I think of when I think of a cute movie!
Wait, what?
Okay, my real internal reaction was "WHAT THE FEE YUCK, PEOPLES!? KUNG FU PANDA IS NOT CUTE! Funny, yes. Beautifully animated, yes. BUT CUTE!? NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!"
Of course, then again, this is coming from a guy whose idea of cute is either Nintendo characters, or magical girls. But I gotta ask, what is so cute about Kung Fu Panda? Is it because all the characters are talking animals? That in itself isn't cute!
Man, I swear, if any of you people saw something I thought was cute, you'd probably either go into diabetic shock, or suffer a heart attack.
