I rented a game recently. A game called Atelier Iris 3. It is, quite possibly, the most generic RPG ever made. It has good 2D graphics, and decent voicework, but that's it. There's not much else to hook you in, and not much else to hold your interest . . . well, aside from the fact that the main female protagonist is unusually pretty. Stop trying to steal my heart, Iris Fortner!
However, this, being yet another product of Japan that has received a proper English dub, and after some quick research, I now have another excuse to indulge in . . .
VOICEOVER TRIVIA!
In the opening sequence alone, I recognized the voices of Vic Mignogna, Michelle Ruff, and Derek Stephen Prince. My first question was, "Weren't these people in the last game I played? (Persona 3:FES.)" Yes. Yes they were. These professionals sure get around.
There's a girl character in the game, one Yula Ellis, who is played by Wendee Lee. Let's see, she was also Faye from Cowboy Bebop, Haruhi Suzumiya, Tatsuki from Bleach, and Rozalin from Disgaea 2, to name a few. That's quite a repertoire. I'm hoping at one point in in AI3 Yula says, "You're late! Penalty!" in Haruhi's voice. That would be funny. There's another character in the game named Manna, who is played by Sandy Fox. She is also the Tachikomas from Ghost in the Shell, Flonne from Disgaea, and Mieu from Tales of the Abyss.
But, kinda like when I saw Code Geass, it seems like I'm having more fun recognizing the actors and actresses behind the characters rather than actually enjoying the show or game in question. Something's gotta be wrong if I'm doing that.
