So, having completed DBZ: Legendary Super Warriors, I have now acquired another Dragonball game for my emulator: Dragonball Advance Adventure.
This is a 2D platformer for the GBA that lets you re-enact the original DB series. You are Goku, when he still had a tail. He may be a kid who can't go Super Saiyan, but you can use the Kamehameha. You fight enemies with a simplistic fighting game engines, using punches, jump kicks, and Goku's extendable pole on enemies. There are times when you fight a boss where the mechanics shift to that of a real fighting game, where you must knock someone out Budokai style. Overall, the game is very fun. It's a throwback to the 2D games of my childhood, the kind of games that dominated the lineup of the SNES and the Genesis.
And boy howdy, it sure is a huge jump going from a GBC game to a GBA game. The colors are way better, the animation is way better, the sound is in stereo instead of mono, and it even looks better than many of my SNES games! I'm still amazed that there are portable systems that can outdo the 2D splendor of the SNES and PS1. It also plays faster than GB and GBC games.
I don't know a whole lot about original DB, but I will say this; Oolong is a pig. In more ways than one. I think you know what I mean. By the way, tune in tomorrow (assuming my internet doesn't fail me) for a surprise . . . and it's not Dragonball-related, but it will be a surprise . . .
