Ah yes, the phenomenon of Let's Play. I did link a picture-and-text Let's Play of Persona 3. And I have also watched a few LPs on youtube. I'm not obsessed with it, but I am aware of it.
I was not, however, aware of terrible LPs.
Until I stumbled upon this on tvtropes.
Retsupurae (a corrupted pronunciation of Let's Play) is a series of videos by some guys from Something Awful. (I'm been gaining respect for that website in the past several months. They rip Lifetime movies now!) Basically, they take sucky LPs and dub it over, pointing out bad gameplay, poor video quality, players stressing out over doing something in a Mario game, the works. If you're a gamer at all, you will be amazed by what you will see.
Most of the LPs cover classic games like Super Mario Bros. 3, Megaman X, and Super Metroid. Watching people suck at these games has suddenly increased my confidence in my ability to play 2D platformers now. I guess I really am god-like in that genre.
The guys also rip other things, like a series of video game reviews from the 1990s. Those are great. It's great fun, and you should check it out. Just be sure you're not eating nor drinking anything while checking; you just might choke on something from all the laughter that will ensue.
P.S. PLEASE STOP LET'S PLAYING I WANNA BE THE GUY. What is it with video game otakus and that game, anyways?
