Now I'm exploring new territory in FF7. This is it, peoples; I'm seriously gonna play through the entire game this time.
Also, I think it helps that I'm playing FF7 after the release of all the spinoffs. I actually picture some of the characters sounding like how they did in Advent Children and/or Dirge of Cerberus. I picture Cloud, Barret, Vincent, Yuffie, Tifa, and Cid sounding exactly like how they "officially" do. But not so some of the other characters.
For one, I picture Aeris sounding like a typical young woman, not like . . . a motherly figure with a very soft voice. I picture Cait Sith sounding like a hyperactive character from a children's cartoon show. I picture Red XIII sounding extremely intelligent yet emotionless at the same time. I picture Zack sounding like a typical anime protagonist.
And then there's Sephiroth. When he's speaking in his too-cool-for-you manner, I picture him with the deep voice he had in AC, a calm and collected bass range. When he starts getting emotional, I imagine him with an unsettling baritone. And when he's at the height of his madness, I imagine his voice to be a piercing tenor, sharp enough for the whole world to hear. Say, I wonder if he talks like that in Crisis Core?
But you know something? I don't like the materia system as much as the Esper system, AP system, sphere grid system, and license board from FF6, 9, 10, and 12. I find it annoying to have to change materia every time I swap party members.
Yeah, but, it's still better than Phantasy Star 4.
