So, third Futurama movie is out. This was my reaction after watching it:
"This! This right here is the Futurama I remember! The Futurama I love!" First movie was decent, but not fantastic. Second movie was disappointing. Third movie? Awesomely awesome. And remember, Futurama is my favorite animated series of all time, and to see at least one of these straight-to-video movies get it right makes me go squee with delight. Can't wait for number four . . . .

In other news, I tried watching the first episode of Eureka Seven in Japanese with subtitles. Here's what I think:
Overall, it's very good. Most of the characters sound their part. Some sound even better than their English counterpart. (Dominic and Renton's grandfather are something else in Japanese.) However, I don't like Renton's Japanese voice. He sounds . . . like a girl. I know he was played by an actress instead of an actor, but he sounds too feminine to be believable. I know some actresses can fake a little boy's voice very well, but, don't compare Renton's Japanese voice to, say, Shinji's original Japanese voice. On the other hand, Eureka sounds cuter in Japanese. Her acting quality is about the same as her English counterpart, but Eureka in Japanese is a little more, kawaii. Yeah.
However, most names in E7 aren't Japanese, and so they sound kinda strange when repeated in Japanese. Renton's name is "ren-tone" instead of "ren-tin." The Thurston name sounds butchered in Japanese. But still, I can forgive them.
E7 dubbed or subbed . . . it really depends on what you prefer watching. If you're like me, you'll prefer it in English, so you can better focus on the visuals, and for Johhny Yong Bosch ;-> If you're more used to watching anime subbed, or if you're more fluent in Japanese, then go the Japanese route. Either one is fine with me. On the plus side, Holland and Talho sound great in both languages. Talho sounds almost identical in both languages. Holland sounds different; in Japanese, he has a higher range, but you can still tell it's him. ("Shut up already! Can't you see I'm shooting down KLFs!?") In English, his voice is noticeably deeper, but he still sounds the part. However, im my mind, I'm more used to hearing Holland being delivered by Crispin Freeman's baritone-bass range, so my repeat viewings will be in English.
So, much like with Haruhi, whichever language is best. It just depends on which you prefer to watch your anime in. If you do prefer E7 in Japanese though, don't be a dub hater about it. 'Cause I will burn you if you do. Dub hating is only appropriate if the dub really sucks compared to the original. (And for that matter, complain about the first English dub of Akira, the pre-Disney dubs of Miyazaki movies, the dubs of Eva, Dragonball Z, and the "dubs" by 4Kids, and the "dub" of Cardcaptor Sakura to your hearts' content. I will join in with you. Anything else . . . will not be tolerated.)
