THERZ BLUD EVRYWHER!

Well, well, peoples. I am now a registered user of veoh.

"So?"

So!? That means I can watch full-length movies off the intarwebz now!

"So, watch anything today?"

I watched a movie for the first time today.

"What movie?"

Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal.

Okay, okay, it's technically a straight-to-video miniseries, but it felt like a movie to me, and a really good one at that. I saw it in Japanese with English subtitles. Doing so makes the film feel authentic. I learned a little bit about Japanese history, namely, a lot of people died in the 1860's.

It was a really beautiful film, but my god, it was violent, easily the most violent animated film I've ever seen. Also, don't watch Trust and Betrayal thinking it will have the wacky hijinx of the Samurai X (Yes, I know it's called Rurouni Kenshin, but I'm intentionally pissing off otaku right now.) tv series and manga series. Sorry, but Kenshin doesn't say "Oro?" anywhere in the movie. But for the record, I liked this movie more than the manga novels. Somehow, it worked better as a super-serious period piece.

I couldn't call myself a Kenshin fan, and even after seeing this, I probably still can't be, but this turned out really good. Not as good a few other anime films I've seen, but Trust and Betrayal is memorable, nonetheless. I just hope you aren't turned off by violence. Even I flinched at the first scene of bloodshed in the movie, and I don't normally flinch at blood, not when it's in fiction anyways.
