So, Lunar SSSC. It's proven rather interesting. The graphics are decent. The story is basic, yet full of heart. It's light, has lovable characters, and amusing dialog. The music, as I've already said, is splendid. The voiceovers are above-average, which is remarkable, considering that most PS1-era games did not. (Tales of Eternia . . . why?) I like the battle system. It's turned based like the one in the original Final Fantasy, yet you have to move around to attack if you're using a melee weapon. A little bit of strategy in this one.
Now then, most importantly, do I like this game? Is it fun? Yes, it is. Although, that's putting it mildly. I have but one word to describe my feelings for the PS1 version of the original Lunar:
LOVE!!!!!
I love this game! I love just about everything about it! This is a game that defines the term, "classic"! This is a game that functions both as a fun diversion, and as an artistic game at once! Yes, when I argue that games can function as works of art, I'll be sure to cite Lunar, because I just love it so much! And I love Luna's voice; such gift of song, makes my heart weep with joy!
"AAAGGGHHHH!!!! He's gone fanboyish over something new for him! And he's just started this game, too! How can we hope to endure the side of you that is a Love Freak for this long!?"
Oh, simple. Enjoy the game yourself, even if you haven't or can't play it. Join me, as I indulge in my newfound love of Lunar!
Yes, I am aware of the fact that I also love Mother 3, yet can't seem to find myself to become enthusiastic for that like I do Lunar. I can't explain it either. It's almost like when I played Tales of Phantasia for the first time. Oh yes, now those are pleasant memories . . .
